Growing Up Fast!

James has been sitting up for about 2 weeks now. He still takes a little tumble when reaching for toys too far away, but overall is sitting up like a big boy! James also tried his first vegetable, sweet potato! He ate about a tbsp with a confused look like "this isn't cereal," then made a gagging sound followed by the disgusted faces. We're going to move on to another vegetable.  After 2 weeks, he's had quite enough sweet potatoes.  I, on the other hand, think his sweet potatoes are pretty good! :-)

Friday-Beautiful Weather!!!

Friday was such a beautiful day James and I had to get out! We went by Daddy's Ashdown Office and James flirted with all the girls. Check out his shirt...free advertising! :-)

Then it was off to Grandmother's house where James enjoyed his first big kid swing!

All in a Day's Work

James and I are having lots of fun each day playing, eating cereal, and running the occasional errand. He falls asleep every time in Target, but likes to look around in the grocery store. He enjoys when we dance to “Getting Jiggy With It” and loves “playing catch” with Daddy. Today as we played, James got on all fours. I think we’ll have a crawler very soon. Although I was not quick enough to capture it on film, I hope you'll enjoy these shots. James also loves watching Super Why on PBS. He smiles really big every time "Wyatt, aka, Super Why" talks. It is SUPER CUTE!!!

Messy Times Ahead!

Here are a few pictures of our first attempts at cereal! James thought the first try was the best game we had ever played.  I don't think he swallowed one bite, but this week he is eating like a pro! Each day I think how amazingly children grow and develop, from a fetus in the womb to wide eyed and curious, God is good!
"You watched me as I was...woven together in the dark of the womb.  You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book.  Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed."  Psalm 139: 15-16

Climate Change?

James's first snow....James did find the snow interesting falling on his head, but because it wasn't red, blue or green, he didn't really appreciate the beauty as we did!  Fun Times!

What Surprised You About Becoming a Mother

An excerpt from the book
"What Every Mom Needs".  By: Elisa Morgan & Carol Kuykendall.
Thank you Lori H.

What Surprised You about Becoming a Mother

Myself.
My temper and impatience.
How tired I feel.
How much I love my child.
That while I love my children, some days I don't like them.
How I can't wait to get away from my children,
and then when I do, how much I miss them.
How being a mom brings out the best and worst in me.
Some things I say to my children that I vowed I'd never say.
How many times a nose needs to be wiped.
How long a day can be.
How quickly children change from stage to stage.
How much more I appreciate my mother.
How much more I understand God's love for me.
How wonderful it is to be called "Mommy."
                                          (Waiting anxiously on this one!)

4 Month Check Up!

James had his 4 month check up this morning.  Shots are never fun, but he acted like a big boy! He weighs 15 lbs., 4 ozs. (50th percentile) and is 24 7/8" in length (50th percentile).  The doctor says he is doing great!
Thanks to Uncle Dan and Aunt Dana for my new Razorback Hat.  "Let's get ready to call those Hogs!"
