So Big & So Beautiful!

James is getting so big & the weather is so beautiful! Thank you God for both!  James is now 17 & 1/2 months and feels so much more like a little boy than a baby.  We've been having a great time playing outside, taking walks sometimes in the morning & afternoon.  We introduced him to his sandbox, which is a lot of fun! He wasn't sure at first about the sand sticking to his feet and hands, but got over that quickly.  He continues to eat me out of house & home and has started telling me "tastes good" at meal time. This very much pleases the cook! :-) We look forward to a fabulous summer!

Swinging at the park.

A morning walk.

Climbing where he shouldn't.

 Sandbox play.
"Vroom, Vroom."  Don't you love it when they make that sound?
"Look Dada!"
He stills love TV.
Beautiful!

James's Precious Smile

Dear Lord, it's such a hectic day,

With little time to stop and pray,

For life's been anything but calm

Since You called me to be a mom--

Running errands, matching socks,

Building dreams with wooden blocks,

Cooking, cleaning, finding shoes

And other stuff that children lose,

Fitting lids on bottled bugs,

Wiping tears and giving hugs,

A stack of last week's mail to read--

So where's the quiet time I need?

Yet, when I steal a moment, Lord,

Just at the sink or ironing board,

To ask the blessings of Your grace,

I see then, in my small one's face,

That you have blessed me all the while --

And I stoop to kiss that

precious smile.

Winter Wonderland

Snow! Love it! Randall & I had the best time watching it fall.  Randall, Mr. Weatherman himself, gave me the hourly play by play as we tried to convince James of the excitement.  We received about 2 inches of sleet and about 8 inches of snow.  James's experience with our winter wonderland has been a love/hate one.  He loves the snow and playing outside, but hates all the layers and the difficult walking terrain.

Pics below. (Yes, those are sandwich bags over his gloves. We had a hard time with his waterproof mittens so we had to go the non-waterproof glove/sandwich bag route. :-) )

Snow Day 1: Right out of the gate...

I don't know about this.

Windy.

Okay, I think I like it.

I really like it!

Snow Day 2: James & Dada

Car.

Fun.

Snow Day 3: Dada's grill basket makes a perfect snow poker.

I love this boy!

Christmas 2010

If it didn't already, our house officially looks like a daycare!  James is enjoying all his new gifts and says "Thank You" to his many Santas!"  I say we need a larger house very soon or someone may get lost! :-)

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

James's favorite Christmas ritual...turning on the tree each morning. What did we ever do without the Christmas tree lights remote?

Now, that's fun!

Season's Greetings!

Thanksgiving, what a great way to start the season! Since it's been awhile since my last post, I'd like to start with a belated Thanksgiving note. I am thankful for my family! For my Mom who left a wonderful Christian legacy and who continues to teach me things even in death. For my Dad who has earned my utmost respect. For my wonderful husband, who handles himself always with integrity. Who works hard each day so I can stay home with our little man. For my Mother-in-law who lovingly takes care of James so I can have a break, like going to the beauty shop this week. I even learned that Jake Gyllenhaal is dating Taylor Swift, and up to this point, my celebrity knowledge has been that Swiper gets on the naughty list in Dora's Christmas Special. I am thankful for James, who is a little obsessed with me right now, in that I can't even go to the restroom, but who is the light of my life! Whose sweet morning routine consists of making sure the Christmas tree is turned on. For each other family member and friend that have a special place in our lives. And above all, I am thankful for my Heavenly Father who makes all things possible, great and small!

Below are some recent pics. James is basically running everywhere now. Still loves outside, especially digging in the dirt, and will climb even the smallest obstacle.
